Happy Spring

Good morning bloggers and good morning spring! Had some sprinkles of rain this morning and threats of more but the flowers need to grow so bring it on...just nothing like the tornadoes that were experienced by North Carolina this week, please?

First I wanted to announce that I will be teaching a copic marker class at the Paper Rabbit in Greenwood, SC. It will be a make and take consisting of 3 images. and will be held on May 24th from 2pm to 4pm. Contact The Paper Rabbit if you would like to attend.(864) 223-6969.

My next class at The Mercantile in Pendleton will be on April 27th.  The morning class will be Art Impressions watercolor class working on ocean views from Art Impressions Work Book 3.  After lunch starting at 2pm to 4pm I will teach a copic class.  Contact The Mercantile to sign up  (864)-646-9431.

I am getting packed up to head to Powdersville Community Church this morning for our Thursday workshop and I will be adding these newest postings to the samples. Come join us!

Happy Birthday Whipper Snapper

Well where did the time go?  I have been very busy demoing Copics at the Mercantile, posting to the Art Impressions blog, completing my 20 watercolor samples of A Stroll Down Main Street (part of my Design Team responsibilities), teaching a watercolor and also a copic marker class at The Mercantile, and then today our usual Thursday card workshop at Powdersville Community Church.  My week isn't over yet as my friend Micki and I will be leading a class on Saturday at the church on Tim Holtz's 12 Tags of Christmas 2010 (tag #3).
After the workshop today I went with friends to visit The Paper Rabbit in Greenwood, SC.  What a nice shop with a large classroom.  They want to learn about Copic Markers so they have asked me to start with a make and take on the second Saturday of June.  I would of started in May but as they are only open on the second Saturday of each month, in May I will be in Columbus, Ohio getting my Intermediate certification in Copics. I am really excited about both opportunities along with the classes at The Mercantile in Pendleton, SC.  Can you believe it!

Sunshine in the rain

I am so tired of the rain.  We have had more than our share this spring but I can't complain because if it didn't rain we wouldn't have such an abundance of flowers and spring green color.  I guess that is why when I saw this stamp from Penny Black I just "had" to have it.  I love these "slapstick" stamps.  They are made so well with deep cuts in the rubber and then since they are unmounted, easy to store.  If you need a place to purchase this stamp The Mercantile Store in Pendleton, SC carries Penny Black Stamps.  Tell them Mary sent you!  Remember the sun is ALWAYS shinning....just sometimes it is harder to see.

Bunny Bouquet

After our workshop on Thursday  someone stamped this image of a bunny and asked me to color it when I had time.  Well tonight it was right there on my desk....the desk that is now cleaned off so I could see it.
I have worked on and off all day, day #3, labeling, organizing, cleaning, tossing, sending stuff to storage and mostly putting things where they belong.  So I figured I could take some time to play.. a little.  So wa-la...here are my results! What fun!!

I apologize for the shadow on the card.  I upload these on my printer scanner and if I add any embellishment the lid doesn't close so light gets in and interferes with the picture.  The flower has a yellow glass bead in the center.  The flowers were colored using the same Copic markers I colored the image.  I punched the tulips with white card stock and then colored them with Copics.

I did a second card today in preparation for Thursday card workshop at Powdersville Community Church here in Powdersville, SC.  We meet every Thursday and I try, emphasis on "try" to have a few new samples each week.  Here is the last one for today:

On this card and the previous one I used a new paper which I purchased at Michael's.  I will post more about this paper on Thursday.  It's translucent, doesn't bleed, and blends very smoothly.  It also doesn't soak thru.  Since it is translucent it is the perfect paper for these bottles. The background paper is from Prima's Fairy Floral paper pad.

This is a Hero Arts stamp that I recently purchased.  I have worked with this stamp before and love the way Copic markers show off and how easy it is to color.  My scanner made the ribbon look like it's ribbed but it's not.  It is solid organza ribbon.  Also the papers didn't show up true colors.  The light mat is really a green.

The center flowers were stamped on a scrap colored with markers and then cut out and popped up.  After I cut out the flowers I edged them with R83 to eliminate the white edge.
