The Executive, Tool Man, Sports Fan, and Hunter from Art Impressions

Today I finished my samples that I send to Art Impressions as part of my commitment on the Design Team.  If you would like any information as how I did these don't hesitate to leave a comment and I will post the answer. I will tell you that the background for these 4 cards were made using Co'ordination cardstock and embossing folders.  I sanded the Co'ordination paper after embossing to bring out the lighter color underneath.  Three of the four images were posted earlier with the Copic Markers I used.  Got to rush to get these 20 samples into the mail. Any comments are much appreciated.

Joy of Living!

Have you ever felt down really down about an issue in your life?  I like to call it a pitty party and I have had my share of them.  I guess this is why when I saw this Penny Black stamp I just had to have it! Not just that it is cute....but the feeling of "The Joy of Living" is expressed so well.  I hope that what ever you are dealing with you can discover something that makes you feel this happy....and appreciate "The Joy of Living"! May Blessings abound in your life.

Sneak Peak Cozy Cottage

I just finished making the step by step water color images for the Cozy Cottage part of A Stroll Down Main Street.  I am way too tired and still too much to do before bed but I did want to tease you with my final image of the steps for this project.  It is so southern coastal....could be Emerald Isle or Myrtle Beach.  It was fun and I hope you like it. Enchanting Manor from A Stroll Down Main Street

Good morning bloggers!
This morning I am posting the steps to create the Enchanting Manor, part of a newly released water color project from Art Impressions "A Stroll Down Main Street". I use Marvy Markers and 140# water color papers on all these projects.
Supplies:  #4 watercolor brush, palette, stamp positioner, masque pen, Marvy Uchida watercolor LePlume Markers: #8, 15, 17, 20, 29, 40, 43, 45, 72, 86, 96, 100, 101

Step 1a: Ink I-4030, Enchanting Manor and G-4032 Quaint Picket fence using #40.  Ink G-4028 Ornate Lamp Post using #45.  Using a damp brush, carefully pull the color out of the lines.

Step 1b:  Using the Masque Pen or masking fluid cover the entire fence are and make dots along the side of the Manor and in front of fence to protect areas from color. Set aside and allow to dry completely.  Color back of E-3381, Small Hanging Basket using colors #8, 15, 20 and 43. I didn't need a positioner as I was using unmounted stamps available from Art Impressions. Hang flower basket from lamp post. With a damp brush and light tapping motion blend colors gently.  Brush color to Manor from palette using #96 and water for the roof. Use a mix of #29 and #86 with water for the windows and door. (Note: frames for windows are created by adding color to windows and leaving white space.)Brush color to chimney using #45 from palette.

Step 2a:  Mix water and #15 on palette and brush on "green cloud" around Manor, lamp post and fence where greenery will be added later.

Step 2b:  Ink AA-1366 Leaves (single leaf stamp)using #8 and stamp as shown. Soften with damp brush.  Ink F-2055 Branches using #72 and stamp next to Manor over the Masque Pen dots.  (Be sure to allow time for ink to absorb to the paper when doing this) Blend and soften with damp brush.

Step 3a:  Ink A-893 Leaves using #72. Stamp as shown around Manor and fence.

Step 3b:  When ink is dry rub off all Masking fluid to reveal white areas

Step 4:  Mix #20 and a small amount of water on palette (the more water the lighter the color) Brush on color to white patches to create pink roses on bush and in front of fence line.  Begin with a light pink and then add a darker center to the roses.  Ink Jumbo Grass D-3010 using #15 and stamp around lamp post. Ink Teeny Tiny Grass AAA-1374 using #15 and stamp along front of fence. Soften with damp brush.  Mix #45 with water on palette and brush in street.  Mix #86 and water and lightly brush on color to sides of Picket fence panels.

Art Impressions A Stroll Down Main Street

Step 1.  Ink G-4033 Charming Sign Post using Marvy Marker Sepia #45 Pull color out using damp brush size #4 or 5

Step 2.  Color back of  E-3381, Small Hanging Basket using Marvy Markers #8, 15, 20 and 100. I used unmounted stamps so a positioner was not necessary. Center hanging basket on sign. Blend with a very damp brush in a tapping motion. Add #45 sepia and water to sign post. Add color to sign using  #17and water.  Use AA-1382 Small Ivy and twine around post. Ink up only 2 flowers from AA-3017 using #86 African Violet and place along ivy.

Step 3. Use #15 to make green cloud under street sign.  Add AAA-1374 teeny tiny grass using #72 pine green. Blend colors with damp brush. Add additional flowers using AA-3017 and #86 African Violet.

Back again

So sorry bloggers.  I have been so sick with bronchitis.  It really knocked me for a loop but I am completely recovered...no more coughing or sleeping my life away.  My husband said, "when you start doing your art work again I will know you are better".  Well I am back and having to play catch up.  Today I am working on Art Impressions Project 8 A Stroll Down Main Street just released at Cha in January.  It's awesome.  I will be posting it later today.  Please be patient with me.  Also, I have started teaching at The Mercantile in Pendleton, SC. I have had this "bee" in my head since I first ordered and received this Magnolia stamp.  Finally I had time to stamp the images.
1. Stamp Tilda on Copic paper.
2. Make mask of Tilda using masking tape wide roll used for water coloring.
3. Cover the stamped image of Tilda with mask.
4. Stamp Jar using a stamp positioner then remove mask.
5. Emboss edge of mat paper using embossing folder.
6. Color leaves and flowers using a stipple brush and ink.
7. Finish matting and embellishing.
8. Draw in squares using a ruler and color squares with B23.

After completing  the front of the card I went looking in my stamp collection for an appropriate inside verse. I sure was surprised when I found this stamp I had purchased years ago and it fit the image perfectly. Don't you think so?  Now to list all the "stuff" I used...

Sweet Tilda

Everyone I know (almost) has been raving and talking about the Magnolia stamps, nick named "Maggies".  I finally made the plunge and purchased my first ones and guess what.....I Love Them! I received my first order and Sweet Tilda was one of them.  I will be posting more as I get them made into cards.

New Copic marker colors

I finally got out of the house today and stamped at the church with the brave souls that ventured out with me.It was cold outside but warm and friendly inside.  Micki and I worked on tag samples for the Tim Holtz tag class (free) at the church on Saturday.  I am so looking forward to Saturday, being with friends and the weather is suppose to melt all the ice and snow AWAY!  Get ready to GRUNGE!

We will start out with a refresher course on adding color to tags, then we will make a Valentine tag using distressing techniques.  Lastly we will learn how to make our own stamp using fun foam and a die, which we will then make into a tag.  There are at least 16 signed up for this class which we hope to continue every month on the 3rd Saturday.

Chapel Window

I hope 2011 has started well for everyone.  I have been busy finishing my samples for Art Impressions.  My assignment this month was the "Windows on the World" stamps with an Easter theme.  I love these miniature pieces of art. They were colored with copic markers.  The sentiment around the Chapel window says "May Hope fill your days, joy fill your lives and love fill your heart".

This next card is called Bunny in the Tulips.  In order to use the Martha Stewart Punch Around the Page this card is 5" square.  The sentiment says "May your basket over flow with joy and sunshine this Easter season".

This is the last Windows on the World card that I did this month. I like this one especially because of the perspective from a close up peak in the nest to the fields and trees in the distance and it is framed with pansies. Who doesn't like pansies? Not me. I love pansies.  This was fun to color and I got to decorate the eggs!

Easter Egg Nest

I saved the best (I think) for last.  Mainly because with the weather we are experiencing now who wouldn't want to "think Spring!"  Can't you just picture the buds coming out, the leaves opening up and turning everything "Spring Green"! That's what I thought about as I colored these images.  I hope you enjoyed my "taste of spring".  I have a favorite rubber stamp, you know, the ones you just Have to Have?  It says, " No winter lasts forever....every spring must take it's turn".
